This nonconditioned, granular urea has a variety of uses, but is typically used as a nitrogen release fertilizer. In the soil, it hydrolyses back to ammonia and carbon dioxide. The ammonia is oxidized by bacteria in the soil to nitrate, which can be absorbed by the plants. This granular formulation is preferred because of its narrower particle size distribution, an advantage for mechanical application
